Fullerton's Dog Days of Summer

Dogs of all shapes, sizes and talents are being sought for the museum's annual "Dog Days of Summer" talent show and competition set for Thursday, Aug. 8th.

Doggie competitions and entertainment will be held from 5-8 p.m.; the market runs from 4-8:30 p.m.

Prizes will go to the dog who:

is the best kisser;
has the loudest bark;
is the fastest eater;
does the best pet trick;
and most resembles its owner.

Owners may sign their dogs up for the competitions the day of the event. The competitions are limited to 10 dogs per event.

In addition to the competitions, a variety of dog- and pet-related vendors will be selling dog treats, apparel, toys and supplies. Other vendors will be offering dog-sitting services, pet adoption, and animal shelter information.

Wear your red, white and blue to show your patriotic spirit! 16th Annual “Walk for the Animals” benefiting the Orange County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

Come join presenting sponsor, The Walking Company, and over 800 animal lovers and dogs for a morning of fun at the 16th Annual Walk for the Animals to benefit the Orange County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. This year’s theme is “DOG BLESS AMERICA” so pull out your patriotic garb one more time this year! The event will be emceed by Maria Hall-Brown, part of the Real Orange team and host of the PBS SoCaL series Bookmark, and Ken Borgers of the Jazz Knob Internet Radio.

When: Sunday, September 15th from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m., with the walk starting at 9:00 a.m. On event day, registration opens at 7:30 a.m. Event takes place rain or shine.

Where: Huntington Beach Central Park East located at Golden West Street and Talbert Ave, behind the Central Library.

Why: Collect pledges and win prizes while raising funds to support our programs which directly benefit the animals. Duchess is a beautiful 5 year old German Shepherd who lost her home when her owner died, the remaining family did not wish to keep her and turned her in to the OC Shelter. On her final day, the Ark of San Juan stepped in and saved her life. Duchess is a very friendly & joyful girl who loves people & other dogs. Despite her happy disposition she is in a lot of pain due to a degenerative hip condition. She will be available for adoption after her surgery is done.

The 13th annual HAUTE DOG HOWL'OWEEN PARADE and human/dog costume contest is Sunday Oct. 27, 2013, 2:30 p.m. at New location:

The parade is expected to include a few hundred kids and adults in costumes, followed by more than 500 costumed dogs with handlers. Haute Dogs will raise thousands for spay/neuter programs, adoption/rescue groups, Operation Santa Paws and other Long Beach service projects.

You and your furry best friend will love this pet friendly event. Come out to beautiful Long Beach (Shoreline Village and Catalina Landing Areas) for this unique event. This walk around the harbor will thrill both you and your pet. Participate in our 3K (1.8 miles) walk and your entire registration fee will be donated to the Animal Cancer Foundation to help fund cancer prevention and treatment research. Bring your friends and family to cheer you on, or participate in the walk themselves!

California's largest and one of the nation's most well established Holiday boat parades...the Newport Harbor Christmas Boat parade. The boat parade sees over 100 illuminated vessels cruise through the harbor of Newport Beach, CA. Bring your pups to this beautiful pet friendly event and enjoy a walk around Balboa Island where you'll also enjoy the Ring of Lights waterfront home and business decorating competition.
