Celebrate Summer!

Hello from The OC Dogumentary! We hope you and your pals have been enjoying the sun, surf and sand here in Orange County.

We've been out and about...playing ball on the beach, visiting new dog friendly restaurants and hitting many of the free summer concerts around town (Marley really enjoyed Common Sense in Aliso Viejo a few weekends ago!)

A favorite pastime is the good old summer barbeque. Let your pal enjoy the fun by baking up some of these doggie treats from The Doggy Bone Cookbook:

2 cups whole wheat flour
½ cup oatmeal
¼ cup wheat germ
½ cup tomato paste
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon honey

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine dry ingredients. In a separate bowl mix oil, water, honey, and tomato paste. Add to dry ingredients. Roll dough to ¼” thick, cut with cookie cutter and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 30 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes 2 ½ dozen. You'll never stop hearing compliments over this one!

Yes on Prop 2!

Animal lovers! Don't forget to vote Yes on Prop 2 -- Californians for Humane Farms is the proud sponsor of the Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act, an initiative that will appear on California's November 2008 ballot. It is cruel and inhumane to confine animals in cages so small they can’t turn around or stretch their limbs. All animals deserve humane treatment, including those raised for food. Vote YES! on Prop 2 to protect animals from unacceptable abuse.

Quotes from the Dog Pound

Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring — it was peace.

---Milan Kundera

If only men could love each other like dogs, the world would be a paradise.

---James Douglas
